TTIP: public report of the 14th round of negotiations issued

images3From July 11-15, 2016, the 14th Round of negotiations for the transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the US and the EU took place in Brussels. The Report is now available.

The TTIP will heavily impact on technological issues (some commentators say negatively)

This Round saw about 30 textual exchanges containing proposals for almost all chapters on the table now. In particular, the Round focused on three main parts of the agreement: (i) market access, (ii) regulatory component, such as proposal for a future framework for transatlantic regulatory cooperation in several sectors, and (iii) rules.

Close to 400 stakeholders participated in the public event. This time, “the rules and market access sessions received most of the attention, which marked a change from previous rounds’ focus on regulatory cooperation”.

The next round of negotiations will most likely take place in the Fall.

This article provides some consideration addressing concerns that the UK’s decision to leave the EU may jeopardize future TTIP negotiations.
