Autonomous delivery robots will be legal on Virginia sidewalks starting July 1, with approval from local city councils.

Sen. Bill DeSteph introduced SB 1207 in the Virginia Senate. An identical bill, HB 2016, was introduced in the House by Del. Ron Villanueva. On June 1, 2017, Gov. Terry McAuliffe signed the bill into legislation. See here.
