On 4 May 2016, Regulation (Eu) 2016/679 of 27 
April 2016, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation), (in short “GDPR” ) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
The GDPR shall enter into force twenty days after its publication and shall be enforceable starting on May 25, 2018.
During the two-year grace period, EU Directive 95/46/EC and the related national data protection laws will continue to apply.
Failure to meet the May 25, 2018 deadline may result for organizations in enforcement actions under the GDPR, including possible fines up to the greater of €20 million or 4% of annual global turnover.
