Microsoft addresses Windows 10 privacy flaws

On January 10, 2017, Terry Myerson, Window’s Executive Vice President, published a post acknowledging Window’s 10 privacy concerns and disclosing which actions have been taken  to solve the issue. Meyerson answered as follows to the several privacy flaws addressed by many, including the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL):

Many of you have asked for more control over your data, a greater understanding of how data is collected, and the benefits this brings for a more personalized experience. Based on your feedback, we are launching two new experiences to help ensure you are in control of your privacy.

The changes introduced are basically two: first, a new web-based privacy dashboard to see and control data activity including location, search, and browsing; second, simplified diagnostic data collection levels and less data collected at the basic level.

The changes will be rolled out to every user when Windows 10 Creators Update becomes available.
